Photography is An Expensive Hobby

Wed May 11, 2005, 10:59 PM
Since retirning from Florida last month I've spent $70 on getting photographs developed. Now I could learn how to develop my own pictures again and go that way but it would still cost me a lot of money on supplies and film. Ever since getting my camera almost nine years ago I've spent hundreds of dollars on film and developing. Now I think I'm going to trade in the traditional SLR and go the digital route. What would it cost me to do that?

To get the camera I want it'll cost me nearly $900. But think of it this way the camera I have now plus the second lense I use for taking pictures of wildlife probably did cost my parents almost that much when they got it for my 21st birthday. And as you can see I've put that camera to very good use. But I spend too much money on film just to end up with a few good photos.

If I had the digital SLR camera I would be able to delete the multiple copies of all pictures I take to get the right picture. I wouldn't be waiting for developing and I could show off what I take the day I take it. When I tell people about an interesting photo I've taken I want them to be able to see it right away and that's what this camera will allow me to do. In the long run it'll pay for itself because I'll be able to help out my sister with her realestate work. She'll save money and I'll be able to make some money on the side. I definately want that camera.
